From stimulating the minds of their students to encouraging, challenging and inspiring them to become the best they can be, teachers play an important role in society. In 1994, UNESCO inaugurated October 5 as World Teachers’ Day, an occasion to highlight the contribution of the teaching profession to education and development.

It is a very special day and every student should make a note of it in his or her diary. And then they should put it on their calendar, computer and iPhone.  It celebrates some of the world’s most important and underpaid people-teachers. Without teachers, no one would learn anything. Because of this, all students should prepare a special gift to give to their favorite teacher on this day.

Nothing too big, perhaps an iPod or a voucher for a spa and massage. This day has only been going since 1994. Its aim is to get people to support all teachers around the world. It also aims to promote the wonderful profession of teaching for all teachers.
