Highest little castle in the Cotswolds, England
The tower was built in 1707 by the then Earl of Coventry for his wife and was designed James Wyatt, a prominent architect of the age, whose visionary mixture of architectural styles makes Broadway Tower still outstanding today.  Graphic Displays on three floors invite you to travel in time and share in the lives of the Earls of  Coventry, William Morris, eccentric collectors and wartime heroes.

Broadway Tower was built on an ancient beacon site with views in a radius of 62 miles.  Strangely, none of the information available on the tower gives its height, which must be around 60ft, but what's not in doubt is the elevation of its site - Broadway Hill, at 1024ft, is one of the highest points of the Cotswolds. Be amazed to see the Welsh Mountains at the same time as Buckinghamshire from the roof viewing platform or simply marvel at the herd of Red Deer with “Bambies” from mid-June.  The Royal Observer Corps used the unique vantage point to track enemy planes over England during the world wars of the 20th Century and later constructed a nuclear bunker to report nuclear attacks during the “Cold War”.
